MONSTER AT PLAY
As I go through my day I overhear the news. Top of the hour headlines, an occasional news broadcast.
How much of the news do I actually absorb?
Sometimes I don’t realize it until a piece is completed and I sit back and really look at it. Why are the paper dolls important? Why did I add them?
Why paper dolls?
It suddenly occurs to me: People are making big decisions that affect women’s lives. Decisions that will control destinies, change the course of a life.
Treating these woman as playthings. Cookie cutter decisions. Pulling strings and playing with real lives.
This piece was created in the aftermath of the overturning of Roe V. Wade
